I always wash the garment before I start the crochet edge and embroidery.

 I find the colours do fade with washing!!!

Miniature Knitting Pattern for BELLY BUTTON BABY

This Miniature 1:12 scale knitted outfit began with me wanting to make a matinee jacket for the Sean Pattern....

Then I thought how can I make a gown with dropped points.

So I tried it out on a petticoat, it worked so I am one step closer to a new gown I want to knit.

 I would so like to see a motive in tatting in very fine thread up the center front of this gown or some bullion rose embroidery. 

Maybe even some bead-work...still all in my head.

Even though the texture of the knitted fabric is very fine,  embroidery on knitting is difficult if you want to achieve a perfect finish.

I thought of putting that material  that dissolves in water on the back of the panel before I try the embroidery.

which is so much easier to drape inside a pram!

The pattern gives a choice of a bonnet with or without frills.

This pattern still needs to be test knitted

MONICA DESIGN

I have now completed the Monica Design in that the petticoat is finished.

Have also created a new crochet edge which adds a

"Touch of Delicateness to the cuff and hem edge"

The double frill on the bonnet is an optional extra.

Now to try adding hair to this cute little face.

I wish I could say the outfit is complete, but as per usual the booties and knickers have not made an appearance yet.

I have called this design TARA for Belly Button Baby.

I am now going to make a confession, I spent at least 6 to 8 hours frogging that long coat, I dropped stitches when I hooked the cord of my circular needle.

Crumbs drop a stitch and it really becomes intense.

I find the thread has a silky finish, so it is rather slippery. 

Would not suggest beginners start on this thread.

Then when everything was safe and sound, I got up to make a cup of coffee and Julie my little dog walked under my desk and caught her little bow (she had been to the parlor) on my thread. I wish you could have seen me spring into action...saved.

All in all I did not enjoy myself, but learned how to "frog" that particular lace pattern.

The latest little outfit is presently winging it's way to the USA...

It is a version of the very first outfit "Candy" that I designed for a miniature doll.

This little outfit was knitted in Madeira Catona 80 cotton thread.

Funny how one begins a design thinking,  Shaz, just knit with the new finer thread, while Fenny my sister in law is visiting....

No pressure,  mind on the gentle rhythm of the knitting needles, creating a calm centre of pleasure.... 

Then all things change....

The work on your needles becomes a variation, now how did that happen, not an exact replication at all, but becomes something new......was it the different thread that helped make the changes.

One has to concentrate more than one would if reproducing a design already written out in pattern form, but it is still fun.

I have also made a new design for Belly Button Baby knitted in the Madeira Catona 80 thread, when the pattern is knitted in Venne 70/2 the outfit fits Baby Randy

The flowers really give the outfit the finishing touch, I knitted the shawl on 1mm knitting needles it made the resultant fabric so delicate.

I have recently bought the mold for this precious little baby doll and you will see why...

I have called this design LISA MARIE for belly Button baby

 It so reminded me of the photograph that is on my bedside table, often people have commented that you do not see my eldest grandchild's face...it is the mood of the photograph that appeals to my emotions, I wonder what Oliver was thinking.    

 

I will be designing a lot more for this little doll I do hope you enjoy!
